45: But Why/Moonshine (Enterprise ) 1966
They were originally known as The Saints and formed in 1961. They started out
as an instrumental band, but added a vocalist in the beat era and later still
an organist to play heavier material. They toured New South Wales extensively
and gigged in Melbourne, where they appeared on the 'Kommotion' T.V. show. In
1968 they won Wollongong's 'Battle Of The Bands' and changed their name to Imagination.
You can also find But Why and Moonshine on It's A Kave In! (CD). From the ashes
of another fine local band The Saints (no, not the Chris Bailey band) - a fantastic
example of early sixties punk rock. The Marksmen also appeared on the TV show
Kommotion.
