The Erics - 1999
Soft
brooding vocal lines, sweetened reverberating guitars, and drums stepping
to the backbeat… Guided by some kind of synthesized psychedelia … Wollongong’s
the Erics have emerged as one of the few Australian bands to mix early 70s
surf-cult rock with clean and polished guitars, all in the tune of a new,
often introspective generation. Since 1999, the independent five-piece have
played to consistent audiences across the NSW touring circuit, as an independent
band, having supported the likes of David McCormack and the Polaroids, Monstrous
blues, Klinger, Muzzy Pep and Peabody, continuing to expand on their healthy
following. Blasé by nature, the unchallenging vocals of Dan… engage the audience
with some kind of ocean-and-earth driven honesty. Mixed with a cruisy guitar
sound and keyboard overtones, the Erics pursue more of a psychedelic sound
than any straight-out Indy-guitar band is able to produce.
