Doubled

Doubled’s music is a diverse blend of sounds. Acoustic guitar, vocals, bass, drums and cello combine to provide a unique sound that is part folk, part rock, and part something else all together. Beginning as a simple two piece in 2000 (Deaton Pigot on guitar and vocals, and Nick Lamshed providing djembe and percussion), continued development of their songs and their style has seen the line-up expand. The addition of Kayne Simons on bass occurred a year later, and in 2003 cellist Simeon Johnson also joined the group. The “new look” Doubled have obtained a depth to their music as they continually push the envelope. Doubled have established a strong presence in the Wollongong music scene, regularly playing pubs, cafés and festivals. In 2001 Doubled won an encouragement award at the national MusicOz competition and were finalists in the 2002 Wollongong UniBar band comp. These successes led to further gigs both locally and further a field. High profile supports of the likes of Waikiki, Gersey, Dirty Lucy, Paul Greene, Gorgeous and Porcelain have exposed them to a wide range of audiences, who have been very appreciative of what Doubled has to offer.
