Analogue
Orphan
The
underlying drive and creative sensibility of Analogue Orphan’s eclectic-rootsy-art
rock sound is perhaps derived from their humble small town beginnings. Although
now based in Wollongong and playing with their present line-up for just under
twelve months Analogue Orphan’s song writing force, singer Jenny Hodgson and
guitarist Greg Hughes, have been distilling songs, recording, gigging and jamming
with drummer Justin Weeks surrounded by the Shoalhaven’s white sands and temperate
rainforests for over five years. The line up is traditional and simple, one
singer, one guitarist, bass and drums, but the band would like to think their
sound is anything but. With influences ranging from Pink Floyd, Radiohead, The
Mars Volta and Sigur Ros to Ani Difranco, Beth Orton, Dave Matthews, John Butler
and Ben Harper, Analogue Orphan believe they have something unique to offer.
With a platform of effects driven acoustic guitar, rich female vocals and laid
back drum and bass, Analogue Orphan have shown what songs and sounds manifest
from the secluded and untainted creative optimism of small town beginnings.
